The pictures above show the results gained by a client with Morphea.
So What is Morphea?
Morphea, also called localized scleroderma or circumscribed scleroderma, and involves isolated patches of hardened skin on the face, hands, and feet, or anywhere else on the body, with no internal organ involvement.
Frontal linear scleroderma is characterized by a linear band of atrophy and a furrow in the skin that occurs in the frontal or frontoparietal scalp. It gets its name from the perceived similarity to a saber wound.
Signs and symptoms
Morphea most often presents as macules or plaques a few centimeters in diameter, but also may occur as bands or in guttate lesions or nodules.
Morphea is a thickening and hardening of the skin and subcutaneous tissues from excessive collagen deposition. Morphea includes specific conditions ranging from very small plaques only involving the skin to widespread disease causing functional and cosmetic deformities. Morphea discriminates from systemic sclerosis by its supposed lack of internal organ involvement.
Cause
Physicians and scientists do not know what causes morphea. Case reports and observational studies suggest there is a higher frequency of family history of autoimmune diseases in patients with morphea. Tests for autoantibodies associated with morphea have shown results in higher frequencies of anti-histone and anti-topoisomerase IIa antibodies. Case reports of morphea co-existing with other systemic autoimmune diseases such as primary biliary cirrhosis, vitiligo, and systemic lupus erythematosus lend support to morphea as an autoimmune disease.

How Our 5-Stage Face Lifting Process Corrected The Condition
Morphea presented on our client’s forehead area as a hardened patch of skin and muscle tissue. The skin was thin, discolored and the texture uneven and rough There was also a notable lack of muscle tissue beneath the skin, providing no support which resulted in the area being slightly concave and distinctly evident.

After a course of 5-Stage Face Lifting treatments the skin appeared thicker, stronger and plumper overall. The texture of the skin also appeared smoother and more even from the powerful effects of the medical-grade Venus Freeze therapy used within the process.
Venus Freeze therapy works from the 5th layer of the epidermis upwards, rebuilding the skin by triggering rich levels of collagen, elastin, and blood vessel growth. This effect is long-term due to the cellular function of the skin cells being improved, causing them to create more collagen and elastin growth ongoing. The overall pigmentation of the skin also improved greatly due to the effects of the LED Light Rejuvenation used within the 5-Stage Face Lifting process.
The Microcurrent muscle therapy used at the end of the 5-Stage process created muscle mass under the skin of the forehead area where there was none before, creating a stronger scaffolding for the skin and filling the concave effect that was noticeable before the course of treatments. The overall features of the face now appear more lifted, toned and youthful, from the Microcurrent therapy.
At Jessicat’s Medi-Spa we treat the face as a whole and although problem areas may be treated more intensively than others, we do not spot treat specific areas .This is because the skin and musculature of the whole face must be lifted and strengthened as a whole in order to attain a truly youthful look.
Whilst many aesthetic treatments work to try and hide the effects of thinning skin and depleting muscle mass, our treatments aim to improve the underlying problems and overall outcome. Clients can potentially move away from injectables and instant, but temporary solutions, to achieve more natural and longer lasting results.
